DMCA & Copyright Policy

How to report copyright infringement on FreePDFCompress and how we respond.

Effective date: 25 June 2025  ·  Last updated: 2 May 2026

1. Our copyright stance

FreePDFCompress respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. We comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.

🔒 Important fact about user files

FreePDFCompress is browser-based — we do not host, store, or distribute any PDF files uploaded by users. Files are processed locally on the user's own device. Therefore, allegedly infringing PDFs cannot exist on our servers, and we cannot remove them from your device.

This DMCA process applies to content published directly on freepdfcompress.com — blog posts, screenshots, comparison images, and similar — that you believe infringes your copyright.

2. How to file a DMCA takedown notice

If you believe content on freepdfcompress.com infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at mohit2607may@gmail.com with the subject line: "DMCA Takedown Notice".

Your notice must include all of the following (per 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (e.g., title, registration number, URL of the original).
  2. Identification of the infringing material — the exact URL on freepdfcompress.com where the infringing content appears.
  3. Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. A good-faith statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
  5. An accuracy statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete notices will be rejected. Misrepresentation of infringement may result in legal liability under both U.S. and Indian law.

3. Our response timeline

Upon receipt of a complete and valid notice, we will:

  • Acknowledge receipt within 3 business days
  • Review the claim and, if valid, remove or disable access to the disputed material within 14 business days
  • Notify the original publisher / poster of the takedown
  • Forward your notice (with personal details redacted where possible) to the original publisher

4. Counter-notice procedure

If you believe content was removed in error, you may file a counter-notice. Email mohit2607may@gmail.com with subject line "DMCA Counter-Notice", including:

  1. Identification of the removed content and its previous URL
  2. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification
  3. Your full legal name, address, telephone number, and email
  4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your judicial district (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which we may be found, including India)
  5. Your physical or electronic signature

If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the removed content within 10–14 business days unless the original complainant files a court action against you.

5. Repeat infringer policy

FreePDFCompress maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the access privileges of any user determined to be a repeat infringer. We may also terminate the account or access of users who infringe any third party's copyright after receiving prompt notification.

6. Indian Copyright Act, 1957 — additional notice

For complaints under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, the same notice format applies. Please mention "Indian Copyright Notice" in the subject line. We comply with the take-down provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

7. Designated DMCA agent

Our designated agent for receiving notifications of claimed copyright infringement is:

  • Name: Mohit Girdhar
  • Title: Owner / Operator, FreePDFCompress
  • Email: mohit2607may@gmail.com
  • Operating address: Hisar, Haryana, India

Email is the only accepted method of contact for DMCA matters. Notices sent by other means may not be processed.

8. Bad-faith claims

Filing a fraudulent DMCA notice is a federal crime in the U.S. and may result in liability for damages and attorneys' fees under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). In India, false claims may attract penalties under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957. Please ensure your claim is legitimate before submitting.

9. Updates to this policy

We may update this DMCA & Copyright Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
